Dr. Annabel Beerel is the founder of the New Hampshire Women’s Leadership Institute, an organization dedicated to the education of women in leadership, vision and values. The flagship event of the Institute is the NH Women’s Leadership Summit, a major leadership and professional skills development event for professional women across New Hampshire and New England. Annabel’s career expands both disciplines and continents. She is a recognized expert in Leadership and Change Management and in consulting to ethical issues across a range of professions. In this capacity she has assisted senior management leaders in becoming more astute decision makers and in leading their organizations through change. She is a highly experienced executive coach who assists her clients in making progress on complex issues. She also started and ran a highly successful international business in Artificial Intelligence. From an educational perspective Annabel holds a Ph.D in Comparative Religion and Ethics from Boston University and a Masters Degree in Theology for the Weston Jesuit School of Theology (now part of Boston College). She has trained at the J.F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in the discipline of Leadership along with being a qualified accountant (South Africa) and holding an MBA with a focus on Corporate Finance and Strategic Management (United Kingdom). A dynamic and entertaining presenter, accomplished panel host, and facilitator, Annabel travels to present and pursue her interest in world religions and cultures. Candida Desjardins

Candida Desjardins is the Educational Outreach Program Manager at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport. Under Ms. Desjardins' direction, the plan focuses on STEM after-school enrichment and summer internship/camp programs, primarily aimed at urban school districts. The program has won numerous Navy awards. Ms. Desjardins, her staff, and volunteers are actively involved with hands-on STEM activities and are working with students in four school districts daily. Ms. Desjardins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Master of Arts degree in Technical Communications from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth; as well as a Master of Science Education degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Summary: Despite the fact that Louise Blanchard Bethune, the first female architect, set up her practice in Buffalo, New York in 1881 and in 1903 Mignon Nicholson became the first woman veterinarian, we are still talking about women in nontraditional careers. The U.S. Department of Labor defines a non-traditional occupation for women as one in which less than 25% of those employed in the field are women. Women are under-represented in many occupations, including those in the trades, technology and science fields, which typically pay well. This panel will discuss the benefits of entering a nontraditional career, reference programs and support systems for women interested in "male dominated fields" and why young women should consider professional options that are typically pursued by their male counterparts. Suzanne Foster is the Vice President of Regulatory, Quality, Human Resources and Legal at Salient Surgical Technologies, Inc. Prior to joining Salient, Suzanne was a member of Holland & Knight's National Litigation Practice and Health and Life Sciences Team. Suzanne advised companies in the design and implementation of compliance and ethics programs, conducted internal investigations, and defended companies that were subject to government enforcement actions. Roberta Herman, MD., is the Chief Operating Officer of Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Inc. Before becoming COO, Dr. Herman served as Chief Medical Officer where she oversaw all of Harvard Pilgrim’s clinical departments. Under her leadership Harvard Pilgrim was rated the #1 private health plan in America for seven consecutive years. She has over 25 years of experience litigating cases in state and federal agencies and courts, and in representing the interests of management in all aspects of labor and employment law. Linda has been named as a leading labor and employment law attorney in a survey of the legal profession conducted by Business New Hampshire Magazine. She is also listed in Woodward's Best Lawyers in America for both employment and education law, in Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers in Business and a New England Super Lawyer. Marianne Jones

Marianne M. Jones is the Executive Director of the Women’s Fund of New Hampshire, a statewide foundation that focuses all of its resources on women and girls in the Granite state. Jones has over 20 years of leadership experience in philanthropy and nonprofit management, including expertise in grantmaking, fundraising, and long-range, strategic planning. Her background includes experience with corporate philanthropy, national foundation networks, and as well as establishing new community-based initiatives, such as Giving Circles, Venture Philanthropy, and new media strategies. Ms. Jones received her B.A. in German literature from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and studied at the University of Freiburg, Germany. She is also an active community volunteer, having served in leadership positions on several nonprofit Boards. She and her husband are raising three daughters and live in Concord. Lucille Jordan was appointed president of Nashua Community College in 1998. She has achieved national and state recognition for her commitment to community service, civic responsibility, developmental education, and business and industry partnerships with education. Most recently, she received the Dr. Carlene Riccelli Assembly Leadership Award from College Board New England. Lucille Jordan was appointed president of Nashua Community College in 1998. She has achieved national and state recognition for her commitment to community service, civic responsibility, developmental education, and business and industry partnerships with education. Most recently, she received the Dr. Carlene Riccelli Assembly Leadership Award from College Board New England. Jordan has served as chair of Campus Compact for New Hampshire, a statewide association of four- and two-year college presidents and private sector partners who are committed to integrating service, leadership, and civic responsibility in higher education. She has also served as vice-chair of the national Campus Compact organization's board of directors. Jordan currently serves on the Greater United Way of Nashua board of directors, the New Hampshire College and University Council, the New Hampshire Postsecondary Commission, and the board of the Academy for Science and Design. Jordan's personal and professional mission is to work toward a more civil society, one in which the worth of every person is recognized. As president of Nashua Community College, she creates an environment that not only develops academic skills, but also nurtures a sense of self-identity and acceptance. Debora Krider is Chief Operating Officer at Granite State independent Living where she oversees the daily operations of 22 programs and the integration of all programs, services and functional areas. She holds a Master of Education from Keene State College and a Master of Arts and Doctor of Education degree from Northeastern University and is a Licensed NH Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Dr. Krider has significant experience in the healthcare industry having been a therapist and Director of Continuous Care and Program Evaluation at Beech Hill Hospital, Community Relations Representative for the Brattleboro Retreat, Corporate Director of Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services in Keene, and Divisional Director of Foundation Medical Partners at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua prior to joining GSIL in 2005. Dr. Krider volunteers as a counselor for the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections' Thresholds and Decisions program. She lives in Stoddard, NH with her husband Mark. Kate Luczko is the Executive Director of Stay Work Play and holds an additional position with New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility (NHBSR). After serving as NHBSR's Program Director for two years, Kate has stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director for NHBSR, alongside her Executive Director position with Stay Work Play.
Kate holds a Bachelors of Arts in Business with a concentration in Sustainable Business from the University of New Hampshire and is pursuing her Masters in Business with a certificate in Leadership of Non-Profit Organizations at Southern New Hampshire University. Margaret is the Principal of Inclusive Development Associates which provides coaching and training in leadership development and cultural intelligence. Her career has been global, spanning 35 years in Africa, Eastern and Western Europe and Asia. She is an adjunct coach and trainer for the Center for Creative Leadership and is presently engaged in leadership development for the United Nations Secretariat with Encompass, LLC. Since 2009, Mercier has served as People's United Bank president for New Hampshire. Previously, Dianne served as senior vice president and group manager for commercial lending at Ocean Bank. She also held a series of positions at Citizens Bank, including state director of community banking, commercial lender and credit department manager. Prior to joining Citizens, she was operations manager for First NH Bank. Mercier holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Southern New Hampshire University. Power is an ever present reality essential to all living things. We need power to be able to affirm ourselves in the world. Power makes us inter-personally significant. Power gives us the capacity to assert ourselves and to make meaning out of life. Positional power is power that comes from the outside. It is assigned power and entitles the holder of the position to exercise power over others. It is never really ours and can always be taken away. Personal power, on the other hand, is the power that really counts. Personal power comes from the inside. It belongs to us. We can give it away, but it cannot be taken away. At the end of this discussion you will • Understand the distinction between positional and personal power • Have ideas of how to strengthen your personal power and how not to give it away • Recognize the importance of strategically managing your power to get you what you want (P2.) Ms. Money currently serves as Vice President, Human Resources for Monotype Imaging Inc., a publicly traded, global software company in Woburn, MA. Prior to joining Agfa Monotype, Ms. Money has held a number of senior human resource positions in varying industries including manufacturing, health care and the non-profit sector. Ms. Money holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Memphis and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources. Louise Rothery’s career has evolved from her first job as an administrative assistant to the role of project manager in the high tech industry. During the past fifteen years of her career, she has focused on law firm marketing and currently works as the executive director of the Northeast Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC-Northeast). She is also the editor-in-chief of the monthly publication: Law Firm Partnership and Benefits Report, an ALM publication. Her diverse work experience gave Louise the idea for her recent book, Lest We Forget: A Salute To The Women Who Entered Corporate America Without A Road Map. Liz Walker is an award-winning television journalist, a documentary film producer, an entrepreneur and a humanitarian currently working in the war-torn country of Sudan. A 2005 graduate of Harvard Divinity School and an ordained minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Liz has chosen to combine her communication skills with her passion for serving the world. In the summer of 2001, Liz traveled to war-torn Sudan on a fact-finding mission on the controversial slave trade in southern Sudan. The experience changed her life. She was so outraged by the human rights atrocities in Sudan she co-founded My Sister's Keeper, a grass roots initiative that advocates for women and children who are trying to rebuild their country and their lives. Liz returns to Sudan often, including the region of Darfur, the scene of the 21st century's first genocide. My Sister's Keeper has most recently completed the construction of a Girls' School for more than 500 girls in southern Sudan. Liz shoots her own video during her trips to Sudan and has produced several documentaries on the troubled country, including the most recent called "A Glory from the God" profiling the work of My Sister's Keeper and its visionary, Boston humanitarian Dr. Gloria White-Hammond. Liz began her broadcast career in her hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. She has worked at television stations in Denver, Colorado, and San Francisco, California, before moving to Boston. In addition to her work on international education and women's issues, Liz advocates for the homeless and survivors of domestic violence. She is on the "kitchen cabinet" of One Family Incorporated, a non-profit organization to end family homelessness in Massachusetts. In 1992, Liz helped co-found the Jane Doe Safety Fund, a multi-million dollar advocacy group for survivors of domestic violence. Liz sits on numerous community boards and is a spokesperson for people living with HIV-aids, breast cancer survivors, and at-risk youth. Liz is the recipient of two Emmys, an Edward R. Murrow Award and special recognition from the prestigious Gabriel Awards for her on-air and documentary work. She currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Andover Newton Theological School, the Regional Advisory Board of the United Nations International Children's Education Fund. She is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Tufts Health Foundation and the Board of Overseers for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
